Love Knows No Bounds Elopement at Stone Chapel at MattLane Farm

What Is A Styled Shoot?

“A styled shoot is simply a collaborative effort of multiple creatives who put their talents and resources together to create a stunning visual concept to be photographed.”* I often get inquiries from photographers, event coordinators, or event venues asking for a florist to collaborate on styled (photo)shoots.

Sometimes there is a vision for these shoots and other times I have total creative liberty to design whatever I want. Sometimes I’m offered compensation for materials/time and other times it’s a volunteer opportunity. I decide whether I want to participate based on my availability, the amount of material/time requested, and how I feel about the creative vision for the shoot. I enjoy these shoots because they are opportunities to flex my creative muscles as a florist, try new design styles or techniques, and work with other wedding vendors in the community.

This Styled Shoot

For this shoot, the amazing team at Brittany Bloom Events envisioned an amazing day focused on inclusivity, celebrating all forms of love. The beautiful, ivy covered Stone Chappel at MattLane Farm served as the glorious backdrop for our swoon worthy same-sex couple models Michael Locust and Doug Boss. Kindred Provisions and Alchemy Event Rentals provided the amazing tablescape pieces and decor. Blossom Beauty got the couple photo ready with hair and makeup. Vibrant Occasions Catering whipped up the delicious food, Southern Sippery crafted the drinks, and the beautiful cake was from The Cake Occasion. Lastly, Minted nailed it with the lovely invitations.

What Did I Use?

Our role was to create an airy, ethereal ambiance for the shoot. As I shared in The Perfect Palette’s blog on this lovely day Celebrating Love’s Diversity in an Ivy Garden Elopement, “I wanted a whimsical but rich feeling, so I used a lot of lightweight summer flowers...lisianthus, ranunculus, open roses, gomphrena, stock & trailing amaranthus."

We designed one floral pocket square and one floral lapel for each groom to complement each other, but stand out in their own ways! They looked absolutley amazing next to their dark green and navy suits from Suit Shop.

What pairs with a fairytale cream and white ceremony? A secret garden evoking reception! We used gorgeous pieces of Italian Ruscus and assorted greenery mixed with garden roses and stock to adorn the rustic wood tables as if they sprung out of the garden themselves. Open and modern arrangements designed with fluffy white roses and lisianthus framed the classic 2-tier white cake. If 2023/2024 were a wedding, it would be this shoot! Enjoy the images below.
