What Is A Styled Shoot?

“A styled shoot is simply a collaborative effort of multiple creatives who put their talents and resources together to create a stunning visual concept to be photographed.” (from this article) I often get inquiries from photographers, event coordinators, or event venues asking to collaborate on styled (photo)shoots. Sometimes there is a vision for these shoots and other times I have total creative liberty to design whatever I want. Sometimes I’m offered compensation for materials/time and other times it’s a volunteer opportunity. I decide whether I want to participate based on my availability, the amount of material/time requested, and how I feel about the creative vision for the shoot. I enjoy these shoots because they are opportunities to flex my creative muscles, try new design styles or techniques, and work with other wedding vendors in the community.

This Styled Shoot

For this shoot, Christy of Simply Bliss Photos came to me with a complete plan, vision, timeline, and her vendor team already worked out. I loved her vision for the shoot and it matched a design I'd been wanting to do. I got to work designing within Christy’s vision and let my creativity flow.  A shoot of this magnitude can take all day (I think I was there for 4 hours!), but when I see the gorgeous images and the creative magic the whole team produced, the hours fade from my memory. I’m left with an overwhelming sense of gratitude that I got to be a part of it. Check out the images; aren’t they spectacular?

What Did I Use?

The bouquet is an oversized, organic cascading bouquet with a waterfall of textures. The focal of the bouquet is an enormous tillandsia (airplant) and it’s surrounded by white anemones, dusty blue eryngium, twisting veronica, fluffy scabiosa, and white tulips. I used a plethora of different foliages including tree fern, gunni eucalyptus, dollar eucalyptus, lily grass, umbrella fern, italian ruscus, and more! The boutonniere is a modern statement piece with eryngium, hellebores, anemone pistil, and foliages.
